Lot 810
UNCERTAIN GERMANIC TRIBES, Pseudo-Imperial coinage. Late 3rd-early 4th centuries. 'Quinarius' (Gold, 15 mm, 3.29 g, 3 h), imitating Probus, 276-282. Laureate, draped and cuirassed (?) bust of Probus to right. Rev. The emperor standing front, head to left, amidst two or more defeated barbarians. With original suspension loop attached. Fine.

From the Aurum Barbarorum Collection.

This 'quinarius' is probably another attempt of copying Probus' PACATOR ORBIS-issue (Calicó 4172), which shows the emperor amidst four defeated Barbarians kneeling before and behind him.
